Frank Gröninger
Frank Gröninger was born in Germany and has lived in Paris since 1993, where he teaches German and intercultural relations.
He published his first book Douce Frankreich (AlterPublishing Prize 2021) in French and German in 2021. Dessine-moi un(e) Allemand(e) is Frank Gröninger's second book.
After an initial observation of France, his work as a link between France and Germany continues with an inverted view: the German looks at his country of birth.
Frank Gröninger - Douce Frankreich
Through twenty-nine chapters, the author takes us on a refreshing journey of immersion in French culture and the art of living, observing with humor the small cultural differences and false friends between France and Germany.
We accompany him with lots of smiles, laughter and emotion during his first steps in a French family, experience with him his first time with a French doctor. He takes us to his internships at Air France and BASF and invites us to follow his teaching career in prestigious places like Louis-le-Grand, ENA or Sciences Po.
Living between two countries, two cultures, teaching a language and integrating the intercultural dimension means being constantly in observation and learning mode.
The author reveals his observations on kisses, love, expressions and situations of misunderstanding, funny or less funny, an outside perspective which allows us to rediscover the France that we think we know so well.
