Hervé Gaillet

Hervé Gaillet is a novelist and blogger. He has published five detective novels in which the writer Pierre Benoit takes on the role of an amateur detective in a novelistic way ( Derrière les lignes – 2017 Prix AlterPublishing 2017; Une Belle pour le Solilloque – 2019, Code Ancolie – 2020, Pierre Benoit mène l'enquête and Pierre Benoit face au crime – 2023). He is a member of the Association des Amis de Pierre Benoit and regularly contributes to its annual Cahiers.

Hervé Gaillet won the 2021 Pierre Benoit Prize from the Académie française for his book Pierre Benoît , also published by AlterPublishing in November 2020.

  • A writer, novelist, poet, journalist and academic (1931) with a whimsical and picturesque personality, Pierre Benoit enchanted millions of readers from the early 1920s to the late 1950s, while often delighting the social press of the interwar period.

    After having (in a fictional and novelistic way) tracked down a serial killer in Paris in 1924, after having investigated in Guyana and in the nightclubs of Montparnasse in 1926, after having found himself at the heart of an international espionage affair in 1928, Pierre Benoit continues his imaginary investigations over the course of five adventures, sometimes under his own identity, sometimes under the pseudonym of deputy inspector Ferdinand Fraisse, of the 1st Special Brigade, where he sheds light with sagacity and without ever taking himself seriously...
